Mission Statement

FCET exists to encourage Christian engineers and technologists in their walk of faith with the Lord, as well as to assist in the promotion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the workplace.

Who are We?

We are made up of people from all over the world. Take a look at our member's directory to find out which parts!

Is everyone who joins an engineer or a technologist?

Actually, no. The majority are, but there are many who have joined who are not directly involved in these fields. We are happy to serve any individual, if we can be of assistance to you. For example, articles are published covering a variety of topics. Some are more specific and will be of more interest to engineers and technologists. Many, and in fact most, deal with the every day types of things that we all face. Articles are designed to encourage and build up. We have currently over 120 authors and over 1000 publications. All of these are free to view, download, sign up to receive by email, and distribute (notice the icons at the top right of each page, which will allow you to print off PDF versions of our publications or conveniently mail them out to others).

What does it cost to join?

Nada. Nothing. Zilch! Your participation is strictly voluntary. FCET has never charged for its services and operates entirely based on the free and goodwill of it's people. That could be you, if you decided to submit your personal testimony for publication, for example (and we highly encourage you to do that at your earliest convenience, as this could have an impact on others, so that they might become believers, as well). If you are not yet a believer, feel free to browse through the many testimonies that we have received, and we trust that you will be blessed and encouraged through them. Click here to join now.

What's the Stand Up page?

The stand up page is for all those who want to "stand up" for Jesus, and declare that they are followers of His. It's actually a cool way to be able to "take a stand" for Jesus, inasmuch as someone might actually see your name there and be influenced by the fact that you've put your name there. Make sense? It's an open declaration of who you stand for. In its very simplest form, the statement you are making when you decide to place your name on the Stand Up page is that "you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world, and you trust Him as your personal and only Lord and Savior." Click here to put your name on the Stand Up page now.

Where did the idea of a Stand Up page come from?

It was really all the Lord's idea. In 1993, exactly one day before starting a new job at Bell-Northern Research (now Nortel), the Lord gave Daniel Parkes a dream in which he saw faceless people underneath floorboards who needed help. The people under the floorboards represented hidden or forgotten people and the wood of the floorboard represented something like an ark, which housed people destined for salvation. The dream the Lord gave contained imagery of software problems (something which Nortel was plagued by at the time) and a spiritual victory which culminated with a public list which was available company wide through the internet in which several hundred people put their names on it, publicly declaring their allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ. This list was called the "Nortel Christian Fellowship Stand Up Page". The list was created by Daniel Parkes, who was the first webmaster of the Nortel Christian Fellowship.

Who leads FCET?

FCET was originally started and continues to be led by Daniel Parkes. Daniel is a graduate of McGill University (B. Eng, Electrical, 1985) as well as Ontario Theological Seminary (now Tyndale University College and Seminary) (M.T.S, 1994). Daniel is a regular contributor to FCET and is one of more than 120 authors who have published articles with FCET.
