When God Speaks ... Listen! (Part 2)

I had been thinking about buying a piece of land. A friend of mine telephoned me and told me about 3 acres down the road from where I lived that was soon to be coming up for sale. My friend gave me the name of the guy to contact and I called him. He promised that when he got ready to sell his land, he would call me and give me first option. I was so excited!
I prayed and prayed about buying this land. I asked Christ Jesus to let me know whether I should buy it or not. I prayed about this decision several nights because I could never get that peace I so desperately was seeking.
I would drive by the property and think to myself how pretty it was, but every time I got home, the thought of "it's narrow" would go through my mind. I could not figure out for the life of me why I kept thinking "it's narrow". This process occurred several times. I even told a couple of my friends about this happening to me and how I wondered why I kept thinking "it's narrow" when I knew that it wasn't.
I finally realized that if I was having this much trouble finding peace in buying this land then it couldn't be the right decision. Just as soon as I had come to this conclusion, my telephone rang. It was the guy with the land for sale. He was calling to tell me he was ready to negotiate. He had two wells and two septic tanks already on his property and I was told by my friend that he used to rent out one of the spaces. I asked him why he stopped renting the space and he began to tell me that he had sold part of his land. I said, "I thought you had 3 acres"? He said, "I did at one time but I sold half of it and now the portion I have left leaves me with a road frontage that is really narrow". Coincidence? I think not!
Sometimes we pray and ask the Lord to direct us, and when he does, we don't really hear him. It puts me in awe when he shows me he had been speaking to me all along and it makes me realize that when I pray, I must expect him to answer!
"Jesus replied, 'I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.'" (Matthew 21:21-22)
