Sometimes the Truth Hurts, But It Still Sets Us Free!
By James Anderson
October 17, 2000

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)

"...for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:22b-23a)

Brothers and Sisters,

Can I share something with you that the Lord brought to my attention early this morning at home. During this week, I have felt the prompting of the Lord to give a gospel tract to someone I have just met at work. I admit I have hesitated in doing this. What is stopping me??

This has been on my heart and troubling me all week.

What has prevented me from giving the gospel to this man?

The Lord showed me that because this person is a very friendly and nice person, this has 'intimidated' me, and in a way caused me to hesitate in giving him the gospel. Now normally you can be intimidated by someone who is overpowering or controlling, but in this case, the Lord showed me that the enemy can use 'kindness' to prevent us from sharing the gospel!!

We are deceived because we think that 'nice' and 'friendly' people have no need of the gospel.

Can I tell you that this is something which has set me free!!

I realise this has been something which has prevented me from sharing the gospel at work because everyone is so 'nice' and polite.

I have repented to the Lord and if the Holy Spirit is also speaking to you through this, then you also need to repent (change your ways). The Lord shows no partiality; EVERY human being is worthy of hearing the gospel!

This was a powerful revelation to me. It hurt, but it has set me free!

Praise the Lord God!
