God's Faithfulness and Blessings
By Philip Chang
March 5, 2001

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:38)

Recently, we (my wife, other counselors, and I) have set up a Bible pre-study program to train some of the teens in our Saturday night Bible Study group to lead the Bible Study. We just started four weeks ago. They come to our house (most of the time) or some other counselors' house once a week. Currently we are studying the Book of Mark, in the New Testament. So far, we are up to Chapter 7. Through the pre-study, they learn more about Jesus Christ themselves and we show them how to conduct the Bible Study. I also benefit from the teaching and counseling.

I've experienced God's faithfulness and blessing quite a lot.

For example, our approach is to take them out for dinner (my wife and I voluntarily) as our guests. Each time, we take two to four teens. No more than four.

During the dinner, through the conversation we gain more understanding about them, including their problems at school as well as at home. It's very time consuming and very costly. However, God always makes up the costs through HIS mysterious ways.

For example, last December, our costs including dinners with seminary students and pastors ended up being around $800 US and I got a check in the mail for the amount of $859.00 a month ago because of a settlement I received on account of a class action suit that was launched against Informix by some investors, and this week I got another one in the amount of $915, that confused me a little bit because I already got one before. The second one really a surprise to me. All I can say is to thank the Lord.

My workplace also gave me some awards. Another extra bonus is also on the way and will be included in the paycheck on this coming March 9. This is a surprise! I don't expect to have this extra cash.

God knows our need and HE will make it up to us as long as we do things in HIS name.
