The Two Fish
By Daniel Parkes
June 12, 2001

"And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." (Luke 14:23)

Years ago when we lived in our small apartment, we had this kind-of 'cute' little fish tank (it was in the shape of a baby carriage if I'm not mistaken). Of course, we put a couple of goldfish inside. Now at one point along the way, I decided to add another fish, to make it three. But only a few days later, I found one of the three fish dead in the water! Well, that did not dissuade me (yet). I bought yet another fish, and added it to the water again. Again, we had three. Then, I went to bed that night, and I had a dream.

In the dream, I saw TWO HUGE FISH FILLING THE TANK COMPLETELY. Then, I awoke. When I checked the tank, sure enough, one of the fish was dead again! Suddenly, I knew what the dream was all about! God was saying, "Only TWO FISH FIT INSIDE THAT LITTLE TANK! NO MORE!" I got the message. Those fish are specifically designed (by God) to 'require' a certain amount of space. If you try and crowd them in, it just doesn't work. They end up killing one another ... or something happens that ends up leaving one of the three (literally) "dead in the water".

Now how does that message apply for us today? Well, not too long ago, I heard a show on Focus on the Family (James Dobson's ministry) in which a man (I'm sorry, I don't recall his name) spoke of how the earth is on a geometric progression in terms of its size (I will expand on this a bit, so please bear with me). The idea of part of the show, at least, was that we're growing, growing, growing, at a phenominal rate. I mean, up until the early 1900s, there were less than a billion people on the earth. If you look at it today, we're somewhere around 6 billion. In short, we're exploding! Just look at how things have been going:

- Creation of the earth until early 1900s: 1st billion people

- Early 1900s to now: About 5 more billion added

Because of the principle of "geometric progression", as time goes on, it will require less and less time to "add an extra billion". In fact, as I heard pointed out on the show, it took 6000 years to get the first billion, less than 50 years to get the second billion, and today, the "latest" billion people added to the earth has taken less than some 10 or 11 years. Ouch! Imagine what will happen in just another ten years. And ten years after that. And perhaps even 8 or 9 years after that. And then maybe a few years after that (if the earth lasts that long).

So you see what's happening? We're exploding. We might not realize it yet, but we are.

According to the "fish tank" theory which became very evident to me back then, the earth being like that fish tank CAN ONLY ACCOMODATE SO MANY PEOPLE. You may say, "Naw ... that might be true for fish tanks, but certainly not the earth." But no again, because even basic math proves that, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the earth HAS ITS LIMIT, FOR IT IS FINITE.

Now interestingly, God knew about that limit before he ever created the earth. He said to mankind, in the book of Genesis, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth". (Genesis 1:28b, DBY)

My friends, the earth may not be "quite full yet" but it is getting VERY FULL VERY QUICKLY! And at the rate we are going, it won't take very long until, like that fish tank, it reaches it's saturation point!

Yes, the day is approaching very quickly indeed!

What is mankind's "godless" approach to this problem? Abortion. Keep the earth below the saturation point by killing so-called "unwanted" people created in God's imagine, which of course, is sin and worthy of punishment. This is a humanistic approach to "dealing" with the saturation problem, of course, which has its roots in satanic thinking (trying to "play God" instead of letting God be God).

What is God's approach to all of this?

First, realize that when God created the earth, he knew all about the size of it.

Second, realize that God was the One who said "fill the earth".

Third, realize that because of God's character, he would always provide the space needed to live, thus he has a "way" to deal with the inevitable "saturation" problem.

Fourth, realize that in his foreknowledge, God knew that even before he created mankind that Jesus Christ, the Son of God (God the Son) would "return to this earth" to reclaim his bride -- those whom he had chosen to be his forever. THIS, I submit, is one of the fundamental ways that God will deal with the saturation "problem". I know that this is a little bit "heady" and hard to imagine, but imagine if you will that HEAVEN TOO HAS ITS SATURATION POINT! Thus, providentially, one reason that God continues to allow people to be created is because, numerically, THE NUMBERS OF THOSE HEADING FOR HEAVEN HAS NOT REACHED HEAVEN'S SATURATION POINT! When the numbers of those headed for heaven reaches heaven's saturation point, according to that predetermined number that God has allocated, THEN our Lord Jesus Christ will return to the earth.

And what a glorious day that will be!

Friends, he is coming! Are you ready? And will you be there, in heaven, to worship him, along with the heavenly angels? Are you one of those who is going to "fill" heaven? Or will you "fill" hell? You choose!

"Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me." (John 14:6)

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen." (Revelation 1:7)

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." (Revelation 22:12)

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." (Revelation 22:20)

"And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." (Mark 8:34-38)
