Ready to Obey!

If you ever find yourself telling yourself you are absolutely not going to do something which is good and spiritual, like attending a Bible study, or attending a fellowship service, or attending a prayer meeting, or reading your Bible, and there is simply no reason in the world why you can't do it, you should consider perhaps that God has spoken to you, and told you to do it.

Let's run through a sample situation.

You all of a sudden find yourself saying to yourself, "I'm NOT going to go to that prayer meeting tonight! No! No way! Absolutely NOT! I'm just NOT going to do it!"

Well, consider that God might have actually spoken to you and told you to GO! Otherwise, why would you be so defensive about attending a prayer meeting, which is holy, noble, powerful, effective, and right? I would like to suggest (strongly) that it is your FLESH that is saying "NO" to a COMMAND that God has given to you. If you will but recognize that God is actually speaking to you under such circumstances, you will be better off.

For example, it happened to me on a particular evening, that, at about 8:30 p.m., when I was picking up my children from an AWANA (church group) meeting, that I all of a sudden felt quite grieved in my spirit. There was a groaning in my spirit, and it related to my ultimately going home, and staying home. You see, that is NOT where God wanted me to end up on this particular evening! The groaning was spiritual, and was a sign that God had something better for me to do.

But do you know what happened when I had considered this? I knew that going home was a "groaner", and that it was not where I was to be on this particular evening, but without any further hesitation, I began to PROTEST to the Lord, "I am NOT going to go to the prayer meeting tonight! No way! Forget it! I'm just NOT going there!"

Now why so defensive, Danny? Except that maybe God had actually spoken to me and TOLD me to GO?! So I changed my confession, from, "I'm NOT going to go" to, "I'm GOING to go!" After all, why resist God? And is not God in all of this for the GOOD, anyway? Why do we, in our sinfulness, and in our flesh, make God out to be BAD? It is sin not to obey God when he has told you to do something. The ROOT of this sin is often a belief that God is not in it for the GOOD in the midst of it! Lie!

Here's a quick solution to the problem! Renounce the LIE and enjoy the BLESSING! I WENT to the prayer meeting. Getting over that small little "hump" was the most difficult part. After the lie had been renounced, I was FREE to go! What I mean to say is that my SPIRIT was released! So I WENT!

My GOODNESS! The blessing I received at that prayer meeting was OVERWHELMING! It was like being born again ... AGAIN! The power of God came upon me in no uncertain terms! God used me to pray for one of the leaders, in which he gave me a vision, and a tremendous supernatural BLESSING was literally POURED OUT! And I am no longer the same! (And, of course, I haven't told you the half of it!)

Be BLESSED! And be blessable! Believe that God is in it for the good, and obey!
